Dredging Project Portfolio

Upper Newport Bay Science Center Dredging This project, performed at the Back Bay Science Center in Upper Newport Bay, required dredging 990 CY of silt-clay material from beneath the old floating dock system.  Material was mechanically dredged using a barge mounted excavator and subsequently placed in 300 CY dump scows for offshore disposal.  All work was performed in accordance with the strict environmental requirements of the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board, the Dept. of Fish and Game, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the California Coastal Commission.

Heritage Yacht Sales Dock Piling In this project, Associated Pacific subcontracted to Swift Slip Dock & Pier Builders to remove existing concrete guide piling and install eleven new 18" square guide piles through a riprap revetment. The prime contract on this project involved the replacement of an 8-slip floating dock at Heritage Yacht Sales in Alamitos Bay, CA.   Newport Harbor Coast Guard Dredging This project, performed at the USCG station in Lower Newport Harbor, involved dredging 1,200 CY of silt-clay material from beneath the guest docks.  Material was mechanically dredged using a land based excavator and a dragline bucket on a barge-mounted crawler crane.  All dredge spoils were placed on the beach for 24 hours prior to being loaded into trucks and hauled to a disposal site in Irvine.  As the material was deemed unsuitable from offshore disposal by the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board and the California Coastal Commission, upland disposal was required.
